❖ This tutorial lesson provides a basic introduction to the scalar multiplication of matrices by using matrix operations such that addition and subtract. Also, this lesson contains many examples and practice problems.
❖ Scalar multiplication is just a number (called a “scalar”) multiply it on every entry in the matrix.
Any matrix can only be added (subtracted) to another matrix if the two matrices have the same size (dimension, order).
To add two matrices, just add the corresponding entries, and place this sum in the corresponding position in the matrix which results.
